Visitation

To maintain a safe and secure community that is conducive to studying and learning, the Residential Life Office has developed a visitation policy in conjunction with the Public Safety Department.

Visitation is considered to be a privilege, not a right.

The goal of visitation will be to ensure residential students are in a community that supports safety and education. Success within the visitation policy is dependent on resident participation and staff oversight to ensure the process runs smoothly. Failure to comply with visitation policy guidelines will result in a conduct hearing from the Residential Life Team using our restorative justice model. Educational sanctions can range from, but are not limited to: removal from halls,  loss of guest privileges, deduction in timebank, or residential probation. The following information will help you to understand the policy better.

VISITATION AND ALL-STAR REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

Please note any communication or updates to this policy will be sent to you by our office via your FIT email.

If you are having issues with your All-Star login information/approval access or any issues that prevent you from registering your guest properly, please report to the Residential Life Office in person. Alumni Hall (27th Street) or Kaufman Hall (31st Street) to receive help from our team  before the 4PM.

Visitation begins the first day of classes and will the end the day before a student's last final.

Since residents are expected to Move-Out the day after their assigned last final, the last day a resident is allowed to register a guest will be the night before the assigned  last final for the semester for each individual resident.

Residential students are authorized 30 overnights in one semester. An overnight is per guest per night.

  • Once your Time Bank runs out for the semester, you will not be able to add additional days to your Time Bank.
  • Overnight visitation time banks are not transferable between residents. You can not donate Time Bank days to other students. All-Star notifies you of your Time Bank Balance
  • Within the Visitation Policy, there are three types of visitation
  • Day Visitation: Does not count towards the overnight time bank
  • Overnight Visitation: Will subtract one night per visitor per night from the overnight time bank
  • Each resident is allowed 2 Overnight Visitors at a time. Each visitor will be counted as a separate overnight request which will reflect in your time bank.
  • Residents are allowed to have 7 Consecutive Overnights. After that, residential hosts will need to wait 7 days before having overnight guest stay again. This includes Emergency Overnight in the consecutive period.
Emergency Overnight Visitation: Will subtract 2 nights per visitor per night from the overnight time bank

No Emergency Overnight Visitation Period
During Finals season, Emergency Overnights are not permitted. In an effort to prioritize resident safety, academic focus and study accommodations. All guests must be pre-registered and approved ahead of time as an overnight guest during the finals.

  • Visitation privileges will be suspended for individuals who violate this policy.

Holiday Visitation

Residential Life will be allowing visitation for all students during holiday breaks in accordance with the policies mentioned above. Please await separate visitation guidelines as we are reduced staff during these time periods.
Roommates are able to deny any Overnight Visitation Requests due to their own academic responsibilities. Our office encourages you to give notice to your roommate if you want an Overnight Guest, however your roommate reserves the right to deny your request during this time period.
