The Housing Deposit & Application

The housing application will be available on students' myHousing portal within 2-3 business days after a student has submitted their $150 admissions deposit or on June 5, 2024, whichever is later. 

Students will submit a non-refundable $500 housing deposit in order to complete the housing application. This is NOT an additional fee and will be credited toward your total housing charges. (Please note, next year housing charges are posted on May 1 of the prior year). Acceptable forms of payment are Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. 

Roommate Selection

Students will begin to have the opportunity to either search for potential roommates if they have a particular person in mind, complete a compatibility profile and view potential matches, or select a random bed during the selection process. Roommate groups can be anywhere from 2-4 people.

Room Selection

New students can select from one of our three residence halls on W27th Street. Students who wish to live in Kaufman Hall, our upper class residence hall, should contact Residential Life for more information.

For a complete overview of winter housing and the application process, you can visit Break Housing. Please note that only students who are enrolled in housing for both fall and spring semesters are eligible for Winter Housing. 

Mid-Year Applications

Students newly admitted to FIT for the spring semester or who simply wish to join us on campus midway through the year are welcome to apply during mid-year applications.

Student placements are on a rolling basis and housed in the order in which their application was received. Due to limited availability of housing, student preferences for room types and roommates are not guaranteed. Summer Housing
